when i moved to uptown i had high hopes for a nice life near the park, snake and jake's being down the street and lovely mornings spent at the coffee shop...unfortunately it has been anything but...
its crowded, unsafe and full of inconsiderate people....i mean...should i start calling it little south beach??
i am so incredibly excited about moving to my place in mid city..it is right on the bayou and near the police station..you can see the museum and the bayou is in my front door..and did i tell you that finn's is 5 minutes away from me...and they only charge 3.75 for a jameson and seven...awesome...
glad that the universe is providing so many good things to me in my life....must be the positive cycle of the moon..hmmm


ill be having a xxxxxxmas in the oaks party on december 21st..ill keep everyone posted...

i decided to go to slim goody's for breakfast..i didn't have anything low-carb in my refrigerator so i figured to get something tasty as well as healthy.
this whole uptown robbery/carjacking deal has gotten me a little shaky and petrified to go into my home at the wee hours like i normally do...also, the rumored serial rapist uptown...
Anyhew, i was given the opportunity to discuss the "uptown" situation with an NOPD officer and i so graciously took it...i asked him after wolfing down my Havana breakfast if and how they caught the teenagers that went on a mugging spree Thursday night...he politely answered that there have been MANY more muggings in the past weekend in the uptown area but they haven't been reported in the newspaper because they didn't want the NOPD and the mayor's office to look bad...

he said that there was a girl that was robbed at gunpoint saturday night on 9th and magazine...
he also stated that myself and well as my other out and about g-friends to keep your purse close to me and be REALLY aware of your surroundings...
i would like to think that myself and as well as my other friends that frequent the uptown area are pretty "aware" of our surroundings...
how aware do they want us to be...??

i then proceeded to ask him if he lived uptown
he replied "hell no..i live in slidell"..

anyhew, i am moving out of uptown in two weeks..i will be living in peace and quiet on the bayou next to the 2nd district police station...
it was a fun run uptown...a good summer...a bad fall...im looking forward to a peaceful winter on the bayou....

well..i think i have somewhat recovered from my week long miami hangover.....my pocketbook as well..

tonight is my dear friend Wendell's 40th birthday and we are celebrating it at rock n bowl..Bonerama is playing and they have a pretty cool horn section....ill be there with my 4.00 makers and diet in hand!! i love this city...well..despite the fact i will be scared as fuck going home to my uptown apartment..take the good with the dangerous i guess....

saturday night there is a free...repeat FREE concert/reception at tipitinas..stinkin lizaveta and suplecs are playing a free show for paul webb....the light of spickle's fire....he is getting married and i guess decided to have the ultimate rock and roll wedding reception at tipitinas....hmm...what to wear??? what to get him for a present...??

sunday...at the vous for the famous sundays with vydra and the gang watching the saints (hopefully) kick some houston ass....

well..that is all i got..between packing for my lovely upcoming bayou home in mid city and partying like a rock star the cheap way..ill be excited and busy...hope to see yall out and about....

whoa...
that is all i have to say about my weekend in miami..
it was filled with topless bathing on a private miami beach with telescope viewings from afar, dancing til 11 a.m. at club space..i think my seratonin level has dropped SIGNIFIGANTLY.....shopping in the art deco district, going to cool bars that were filled with lame ass people and spending about 300 dollars on liquor...to clear things up for those of you who consider me a raging alcoholic on vacation, the drinks ANYWHERE in miami beach were 15 dollars a pop...
it was nice to get away but i always look forward to coming back to my city...miami was full of cool and interesting things and people but i really like going to my neighborhood pub where everybody knows my name, paying 3.75 for a jameson and seven, and not having to try to look completely perfect before i step out on the street......
utopia DOES NOT have its priveledges...

im out bitchezzzz!! off to miami for some fun and the sun....ill have TONS of stories of lust, lore and miami cheez heads!!

this week has been insane already...and it's only freiking tuesday..wtf??
caught a sinus cold due to my halloween week debauchery..i deserved it..i partied way to hard for my liking and had a draining week..
i am paying for it...in more ways than one...
i am leaving for miami though on friday for a long little weekend celebrating my good friend brigette's birthday...i think it will be really relaxing and sort of hectic all wrapped into one weekend..i am looking forward to lying on the beach with my drink with an umbrella in it and not worrying about running into people that i don't care to see..total ANONYMITY!!!! woo hoo...
i have a feeling i will be sumpremely broke when i get back but whatever..im going to have a kick ass time there!! i deserve it..
i will come back rejuvinated and more focused...

Roaches innnnnn spaaaaaaaaaaace

VORONEZH, Russia (MCT) | A Russian cockroach called Nadezhda (Hope) has given birth to the first creatures ever conceived in space, scientists in Voronezh, central Russia, said on Tuesday.

Nadezhda conceived during the Foton-M bio-satellite September 14-26 flight.

"We recently received the first batch of 33 cockroaches conceived in microgravity," Dmitry Atyakshin said.

Though the newborn creatures already eat and drink respectively well, microgravity conditions may have had an impact on the natural darkening of their chitinous carapace, a part of a cockroach's exoskeleton.

"Cockroaches are born with a transparent carapace, which gradually turns into brown, and the space cockroaches went darker earlier than usual," the scientist explained, adding that final conclusions would only be able to drawn only after the second female had given birth.

"We are pleased by the very fact that they (the cockroaches) came into being," Atyakshin added.

The first unmanned Foton-type spacecraft was introduced in 1985 by the Soviet Union and was based on the famous Vostok spacecraft, which carried the world's first astronaut, Yuri Gagarin, into orbit in 1961. Since 1980, a total of 12 Foton spacecraft have been launched.

The September 14-26 flight was part of an ongoing experiment into the effects of space flight by the Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP). The creatures were sealed in special containers, and a video camera filmed them during the flight.
